What is GetaVA?

GetaVA is an online job marketplace that provides a means for employers and VA’s in South Africa to collaborate for mutual benefit. Individuals or businesses in need of skilled help for short or long-term projects can search for VA's for the completion of the work. For the employer or service buyer, GetaVA provides immediate access to independent contractors with specific skills, without the need to place job ads or provide work space, insurance, etc.

For the VA or service provider, GetaVA offers a constant source of part-time to full-time work opportunities, without the trouble and expenses of advertising and self-promotion. GetaVA also provides access to valuable information and training via its social media platforms and website. VA's have access to information and training about how to run their business; how to secure projects for their business; connection to like minded entrepreneurs and exposure of their existing businesses to the community, corporates and employers.

What is a VA?

A virtual assistant, or VA, is a small business owner who offers many different services in the administrative, technical, or creative areas. A VA has spent a lot of time developing expertise in their chosen area of specialization. Services are provided remotely and communication is done via email, phone, mail, or instant messaging. Work product is delivered electronically or via the various delivery methods available.

  • You will see we only want your 10 primary services, because we are looking for specialist service providers instead of "jack of all trades" providers. We will be running a online training webinar around this, so that you fully understand it.

How does the pricing work?

For VA's - You will be billed according to the plan you’ve signed up for. If you’re unhappy with the service, you may cancel your plan anytime, you control your own subscription. We do not offer pro-rata refunds, for example, if you have signed up for a pre-determined time, you will be able to cancel before the time has lapsed and not be billed again, however there will not be a pro-rata refund for the amount of time you have not used the service. For Employers - please discuss with your selected VA.

How can membership benefit me?

By becoming a subscriber on GetaVA you receive round-the-clock exposure and advertising of your services.

How can a virtual VA really be personal?

It is the VA’s goal to make their client happy, get to know them and make their lives easier. In no time you and your VA will have established a long-term, effective working relationship.

How do I communicate with my VA?

We find Skype to be one of the most cost effective and easiest applications to use for video conferencing and phone calls, but you can email, phone, text – it’s up to you! Your VA will have their own personal email and phone number for you to communicate with them.

Can my VA handle my calendar / inbox?

Absolutely. Your VA can arrange meetings and manage your calendar with ease. Simply share and grant your VA access to manage your calendar. It’s that simple!

Will my VA be working on the weekend?

Please check your VA’s profile for “ availability” as certain VA’s will work weekends, and others not. VA's should always consult their employers before booking a holiday to avoid missing peak times. While they are away, please see our other VA’s listed to provide emergency cover should you need it.

What is the going rate for specific skills?

The average salary of a VA in South Africa is R8 299. They may also earn the salary starting at R250 per hour. The specialized virtual assistant may ask for higher rates as well. This salary estimate is based on the information provided by Indeed of the virtual assistant employees, its users and the information retrieved from the advertising agencies in the last 24 months.

How does the process work?

The important thing is good communication between a client and a VA. Once the employer has chosen a specific VA, the process will start by discussing what work the client requires to have done and how the client prefers to communicate – email, phone, instant messaging, etc. A client should be given periodic updates to keep them informed about the status of the work the VA is doing for the client.

From the clients side, a VA would ask that the client provide timely communication of any changes to the client’s work needs, such as changed deadlines, tasks, etc.. Once the work is completed, the VA would send it to the client in whatever way has been agreed upon.
